Barbara Smith

Barbara Smith, age 92, of Seymour, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at her home. Barbara was a member of the Schneck Medical Center Foundation, and she was a volunteer for the Schneck Medical Center Guild. She loved volunteering, doing art projects, playing bridge, and gardening. Born on May 20, 1931, in Columbus, Ohio, Barbara was the daughter of Paul and Mary (Main) Dunipace, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 15, 1962, in Birmingham, Michigan, she married Bill E. Smith, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1992. Survivors include two sisters: Shirley Schafbuch of Lansing, Michigan, and Mary E. Gordon of Livonia, Michigan; one local niece, Lizbeth Bundy; one local nephew, James Hash; and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by two sons: Steve Whiting, and Mike Whiting; and one sister, Janet Hash. Funeral services for Barbara Smith will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
