Bertha Anna Eggeman, age 99, of Seymour, passed away at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Mrs. Eggeman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and was active in the Ladies Aid at the church. Bertha spent many years as a dairy farmer, and was also employed at the Shirt Factory and Dicksons in Seymour. She was a talented seamstress, and she enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, crocheting, and playing cards. Bertha was a great Christian woman and always took care of everyone. Born on August 13, 1920, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of William and Martha Wischmeier Darlage, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 21, 1941, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, she married Lawrence Eggeman and he preceded her in death on October 12, 1991. Survivors include three daughters: Barbara Sue (Lee) Cunningham of Crothersville, Carol Ann (Andy) Denny of Columbus, and Connie Jean (John) Rieckers of Seymour; one son, Kenneth (Becky) Eggeman of Colorado; grandchildren: Shannel (Frank) Novachek, Noelle Eaman, Misty (Andy) Royalty, Nickie (Brad) Isaacs, Jason (Kelly) Cunningham, Drew (Leigh) Denny, Tricia (Tony) Perry, Jill Wallace, Travis Rieckers, and Kayla (Clayton) Beard; great-grandchildren: Taylor (Jacob) Newkirk, Drew Royalty, Alex Royalty, Kennedy Royalty, Brittany Isaacs, Cassidy Isaacs, Jaren Cunningham, Kameron Cunningham, Alexia Denny, Austin Perry, Reid Perry, Quinton Perry, Emily Wallace, Alexia Rieckers, T.J. Rieckers, Kinley Beard, Collins Beard, Kambry Beard, Meili Novachek, Siannah Novachek, Azariah Eaman, Abigail Eaman, and Seadon Eaman. In addition to her parents, Bertha was also preceded in death by one brother, Victor Darlage; and five sisters: Elsa Schroer, Erna Stahl, Adella Steinkamp, Melba Pollert, and Dorothy Pottschmidt. Funeral services for Bertha Anna Eggeman will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and Sauers Expansion Fund.
