Carolyn L. (Wolka) Kidd

Carolyn L. (Wolka) Kidd, age 98, of Crothersville, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Kidd was a dedicated member of Tampico Baptist Church, actively participating in numerous church activities throughout her life. Carolyn devoted 27 years of service to Nolting's Super Valu in Brownstown before retiring in September of 1992. Carolyn valued her family deeply and cherished the time spent with them. She also had a passion for playing the piano, playing Bingo, completing word search puzzles, reading, and gardening, raising both vegetables and flowers. Carolyn was also admired for her kindness and the warmth she extended to everyone. Born on October 9, 1926, in Brownstown, Carolyn was the daughter of Andrew John and Carrie B. (Phillips) Wolka, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 3,1948, at Brownstown Christian Church, she married Clarence Kidd, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2000. Survivors include two sons: William H. (Marlis) Kidd of Seymour, and James S. (Jackie) Kidd of Brownstown; one daughter-in-law, Susan Kidd of Crothersville; ten grandchildren: Angela Grimm, Jennifer (Troy) Wilson, Kathy (Tim) England, Kevin (Rachel) Kidd, Melanie (Ryan) Barker, Brian (Carmen) Kidd, Andy (Tosha) Kidd, Kim (Jeff) Williams, Steven (Aaron) Kidd, and Cari (Bo) Kidd; three step-grandchildren: Teresa Moorman, Tim Smith, and Tony Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Carolyn was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen Sue Pennington; one son, Ronald L. Kidd; one daughter-in-law, Karen Kidd; three grandsons: Bradley Wayne Pennington, Adam Mark Kidd, and Chad Valentine; one sister, Albertene Wolka, who died in infancy; and two sons-in-law: Dale Pennington, and Gene Smith. Funeral services for Carolyn L. (Wolka) Kidd will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Ralph McVay officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
