Cyril Berry, age 86, of Norman, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at his residence. He was a member of the Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church in Freetown. Cyril retired from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of employment and was an active member and volunteer of the Norman Conservation Club and Brownstown Senior Citizens Center. Born on April 10, 1928, in Letcher County, Kentucky, he was the son of James Berry and Pashie Maggard Berry Boggs, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Lizzie Lumpford on August 22, 1945 in Kentucky and she preceded him in death on February 15, 2013. Survivors include three sons, Cyril (Christine) Berry, Jr. of Saline, Michigan, James E. (Jane) Berry of Madison, Mississippi, and James L. Berry of Norman, Indiana; two daughters, Linda Fay (Fritz) Daniels of Carelton, Michigan, and Cora Lucas of Norman, Indiana; one brother, Cecil (JoAnn) Berry of Franklin, Indiana; three sisters, Frances (Ed) Baronowski of Florida, Jeannette Kilbourne of Michigan and Yvonne (Doris) Clark of Florida; 12 grandchildren, Cyril Matthew Berry, Cheryl Berry, Connie Berry, Clinton Berry, Eric Daniels, Lizabeth Daniels, Jennifer Horner, James E. Berry, Jr., Shannon Reed, Amanda Spradley, Rickey Welsh and Marshall Lucas; and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by four sisters, Ruby Maggard, Iona Scott, Eulene Whitehead and Wilma Kilbourne. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Church, Freetown, with Arnold Bates officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the church. Burial will be at Valley Home Old Regular Baptist Cemetery, Freetown. Memorials may be given to the Brownstown Senior Citizens Center.
