Delbert L. Roush, age 98, Norman, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at IU Health Bedford. Delbert was a member of Fairview Community Church. He was a World War II flight mechanic on P38s and P39s with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was employed as a garage mechanic with the U.S. Postal Service from 1956 to 1975. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed dogs, fishing, hunting, gardening and going to auctions. He also enjoyed working on all types and styles of clocks. Born Jan. 23, 1915, in Rossville, he was the son of Frank and Essie Greenly Roush. On May 16, 1959, in Indianapolis, he married Nora Morrison, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Wanda Watson of Brownstown and Ruth Klopp of Zionsville; one daughter-in-law, Patty Cummings of Greenwood; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ralph Cummings; three daughters, Marjorie Sinclair, Mary Cummings and Florence Short; two brothers; and five sisters. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with Lindy Hopkins officiating. Interment will be at Guthrie Creek Cemetery with military honors presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to donor's choice of charity.
