Drettie M. Miller

Drettie M. Miller, age 90, of Brownstown, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by the ones who loved her. Mrs. Miller was of the Pentecostal faith during her lifetime. Drettie worked at H.O. Canfield/Panasote Industries from 1956 to 1991. She then worked as a loving caregiver from 1991 to 2009. Drettie loved her family dearly, and always enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed shopping at Goodwill. Born on April 21, 1933, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, Drettie was the daughter of Orvis and Icey (Carender) Oakes, both of whom preceded her in death. On February 17, 1951, in Russell County, Jamestown, Kentucky, she married Zolla Lee Miller, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2016. Survivors include one son, Gary Lee Miller of Brownstown; one daughter, Doris D. Miller of Brownstown; one sister, Sharon Brock of Medora; two grandchildren: Jennifer Paige (Rightler) Davis of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Jodi Lynn (Rightler) McDaniels of California; and two great-grandchildren: Bayley Alexis Davis and Palmyr Bryn Davis, both of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Drettie was also preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Lane; and five brothers: Ervin (Bill) Oakes, N.E. Oakes, R.V. Oakes, Mervin Oakes, and Clyde Oakes. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Burial will follow at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora.
