Emma Jean Terkhorn

Emma Jean Terkhorn, age 82, Seymour, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown. Emma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour. She formerly was employed at the former Brook's Restaurant, Brownstown, and co-owned Dudleytown Store with her husband from 1955 to 1963. She also was employed by Harley Bag Co. and Cummins Inc., and most recently enjoyed being a homemaker. Born July 7, 1931, in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Marie (Jolly) Goss, both of whom preceded her in death. On Jan. 16, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, she married Alvin L. Terkhorn, who survives in Seymour. Other survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Gene) Bobb, Vallonia, and Martha (Jim) Freeman, Sherwood, Ore.; three brothers, Roger Lee Goss, Florida, Ronnie (Brenda) Goss, Seymour, and Larry (Janice) Goss, Freetown; five sisters, Betty Ray, Indianapolis, Wilma Goss, Seymour, Mary Goss, Greenfield, Shirley Coogan, Mississippi, and Sharon Thickstun, Arizona; four grandchildren, Aaron Bobb and fiancee Lana Tipton, Blake Bobb, Corey (Tomie) Bobb and Brett (Stephanie) Freeman; four great-grandchildren, Rachael Freeman, Garrett Freeman, Sage Key and Brinley Bobb. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joe Goss; one sister, Wanda Barrett; and one granddaughter, Megan Freeman. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour, with the Rev. Jeffrey Stuckwisch officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School, Schneck Hospice or Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
