Gladys Pollert, age 95, of Seymour, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, May 22, 2025, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, with her son by her side.
Gladys had a strong faith. She was baptized in Christ and confirmed in her faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, and became a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Seymour. Church and daily devotions were of utmost importance to her, and she was devoted to encouraging others to stay close to Jesus. Gladys also had a passion for the quilting days at church, cherishing both the craft and the fellowship they brought.
In 1979, Gladys was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash, one of Indiana's highest civilian awards, presented by Governor Otis Bowen. She was also an active and devoted member of the Midway Home Economics Club, and she enjoyed fellowship and fun as part of the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club.
Gladys worked at Seymour National Bank for several years. After her marriage, she became a dedicated housewife, who worked diligently alongside her husband, Bill, on their dairy and grain farm.
Gladys was dearly loved by her family. She cherished every moment she shared with them, especially traveling with her husband.
Born on January 7, 1930, in Seymour, Gladys was the daughter of Otto and Rosine (Pottschmidt) Rittman, both of whom preceded her in death. On August 7, 1949, she married Wilbert "Bill" L. Pollert, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2014.
Survivors include one son, Max (Connie) Pollert of Seymour; three grandchildren: Jonathon (Mindy) Pollert, Lisa (Matt) Wallace, and Lora Pollert; and three great-grandchildren: Petyon Pollert, Olivia Pollert, and Zachary Pollert.
Gladys was also preceded in death by two sons: Myron Pollert and Mark Pollert; and two sisters and brothers-in-law: Elsie (Richard) Kiewitt and Mildred (Arnold) Otte.
Funeral services for Gladys Pollert will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Seymour, with Pastor Andrew J. Currao and Pastor Zachary R. Huffman officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Seymour.
Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lutheran Community Home, or Trinity Lutheran High School.
