Joanna V. Fleetwood, age 76, of Norman, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, on the family farm surrounded by her loving family. Joanna was a faithful member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene for 50 years. Mrs. Fleetwood worked as a QMA at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. She was also employed at Ben Franklin Distribution in Seymour, and she worked part-time at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour as a greeter during the Covid epidemic. Joanna was also a past member of the Owen Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Joanna was loved beyond measure by her family, and she loved her family dearly. She was passionate about spending time with them, especially her grandchildren, and she particularly treasured having weenie roasts and hayrides with them. Joanna enjoyed shopping, collecting antiques and primitives, sewing, crafting, and camping. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, and she was known for her ham salad and ranch crackers. Joanna loved and adored people, and she never met a stranger. Joanna was a wonderful caregiver, and she was always willing to help and support anyone in need. Born on May 20, 1947, in Seymour, Joanna was the daughter of Thomas and Luetta June (Polly) Cochrane, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 8, 1967, at Kurtz Church of the Nazarene, she married Roy L. Fleetwood, and he survives in Norman. Survivors also include two sons: Brian (Lisa) Fleetwood of Brownstown, and Jeff (Laura) Fleetwood of Vallonia; one daughter, Susan Fleetwood (A.J.) Poulton of Norman; one brother: Fred (Stacie) Cochrane of North Vernon; one sister, Brenda Cochrane Guthrie of Seymour; eight grandchildren: Elasha Fleetwood Kepple, Garik Fleetwood, Macy Fleetwood, Nate Price, Dylan (Alayna) Weihe, Claire Poulton, Brennon Fleetwood, and Audrey Fleetwood; one great-granddaughter, Berkleigh Weihe; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joanna was also preceded in death by two brothers: Steve Cochrane and Tony Cochrane; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Eva Fleetwood; sister-in-law, June Roberts; brother-in-law, Stan Guthrie; and one niece, Mindy Guthrie. Funeral services for Joanna V. Fleetwood will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Floyd Fisher and Pastor A.J. Poulton officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Kurtz Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Kurtz Church of the Nazarene. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
