Lois Virginia Hawn, age 90, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Hoosier Christian Village surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hawn was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, and she belonged to the Ladies Aid at the church. Lois worked at Beickman Cleaners in Brownstown, was office secretary at Medora Brick Company, was a cook for 6 years at the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, and she was a homemaker. Lois loved cooking for her family, and especially loved baking pies. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing clothes. Born on July 4, 1932, in the Chestnut Ridge community, she was the daughter of Frank and Amanda Waldkoetter Otte, both of whom preceded her in death. On February 5, 1949, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, she married Lloyd Edward Hawn, and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2019. Survivors include two sons: Allen (Sherry) Hawn of Vallonia, and Michael (Vickie) Hawn of Brownstown; three grandchildren: Bradley (Krista) Hawn of Spencer, Dana (Jason) Haehnlein of Huntsville, Alabama, and Ashley Diekmann of Evansville; 10 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Rebecca, Riley, Ridge, Kieffer, Jackson, Adele, Bo, Duke, and Will; three great-great grandchildren: Regan, Olivia, and Shiloh; one brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd Dean and Mary Otte of Brownstown; and Catherine Sterling of Brownstown. Besides her parents, Lois was also preceded in death by an infant grandson, Bryan Hawn; three brothers: Otis Otte, Marlin Otte, and Robert Otte; two sisters: Gladys Burchell, and Frances Hobbs; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Otte, and Bonnie Otte; and two brothers-in-law: Gilbert Burchell, and Nathan Hobbs. Funeral services for Lois Virginia Hawn will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 20, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, with Pastor Joel Meyer officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the church. Interment will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan Cemetery.
