Marshall Norman Jr.

Marshall Norman, Jr., age 97, of Norman, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Mr. Norman was a member of Norman Christian Church. Marshall was a hod carrier, and he was a member of the hod carriers union for more than 70 years. He also farmed and logged with his family. Mr. Norman was a long-time member of Norman Conservation Club, wherein he served as treasurer, and he was also a member of the Jackson County Council. He enjoyed fox hunting with friends, game hunting, and collecting hit and miss engines. Born on May 4, 1926, at his home in Norman, Marshall was the son of Marshall, Sr., and Lula (Todd) Norman, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Norman married Norma Jean Tabor, and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2014. Survivors include three sons: Thomas Norman of Norman, Terry (Janet) Norman of Nashville, and Timothy (Katelyn) Norman of Norman; nine grandchildren: Tracy, Amie, Patrick, Grant, Kasandra, Steven, Paislee, Nikolai, and Atticus; and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Norman was also preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law, Velma and Pete Mark; sister and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Carl Fox; and sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Francis Malloy; and great-granddaughter, Jenna Helton. Funeral services for Marshall Norman, Jr. will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Liberty Cemetery, Norman.
