Mary L. Smoot, age 92, of Houston, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020, at her home. Mary was a sales manager for more than 20 years. Born on July 28, 1927, in Maumee, she was the daughter of Bud and Zoa Neilson Hill, both of whom preceded her in death. In Texas, she married Edward C. Smoot and he also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons: Edward W. Smoot of Bedford and Larry V. (Lois) Smoot of Brookfield, Ohio; three daughters: Linda M. Kurtzman of Brookfield, Ohio, Susan Z. Levering of Indianapolis, and Rebecca A. Terkhorn of Seymour; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by one grandchild; two brothers, Robert Hill and Russell Hill; and sister-in-law, Betty Hill. A private family funeral service for Mary L. Smoot will be held. Interment will be at Houston Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Schneck Hospice through Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.
