Obituary

Myron D. Curry, age 84, of Brownstown, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Curry was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was also a past school board member of the Brownstown Central school system, and a past board member of the Jackson County Fair Association. Myron was a school teacher for 40 years and retired from Seymour Middle School. He was also the basketball coach for the junior high Seymour girls basketball team. Mr. Curry was a passionate school teacher and had a love for all of his students. Myron loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Hunter. He also loved traveling with his wife, Brenda, and their friends, attending auctions, playing golf with his friends, and watching I.U. sports. Born on June 1, 1937, in Jackson County, Myron was the son of Chance and Ilene Lutes Curry, both of whom preceded him in death. On December 31, 1960, in Medora, he married Brenda L. Allen and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2015. Survivors include one son, Larry (Valleri) Curry of Brownstown; one brother, Robert (Janet) Curry of Danville; and one grandson, Hunter Curry. Besides his parents, Mr. Curry was also preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Brock, and a brother-in-law, George Brock. Funeral services for Myron D. Curry will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Medora. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff of Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. Memorials may be given to Mt.
