Norma Jean Harbaugh Cornett, 97, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Harbaugh was a long-time member of Freetown Church of Christ, and she also attended Cortland Christian Church. Norma loved God and her church family, as well as singing in the church choir. She was a housewife, and she also was a part-time postal worker for many years. Born on April 30, 1928, in Freetown, Norma was the daughter of Paul and Eliza Leona Fields Stogdill, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 26, 1947, in Brownstown, she married Billy Harbaugh, and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2001. She later married Winfred "Bud" Cornett, and he passed away on September 1, 2010. Survivors include two daughters: Brenda (Edward) Pulaski of New York, and Nancy (Tim) Lutes of Kentucky; one sister, Patricia Sheldon of Freetown; three grandchildren: Amanda (Aaron) Cash of New Castle, Matthew Lutes of New Castle, and Todd Lutes of Ohio; and four great-grandchildren: Brianna Cash of New Castle, Brayden Cash of New Castle, Tyler Lutes of New Castle, and Kylee Lutes of New Castle; and many nieces and nephews. Norma was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl (Dorothy) Stogdill; and one brother-in-law: Leonard Sheldon. Funeral services for Norma Jean Harbaugh Cornett will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with TJ Kummerfeldt officiating. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be at Freetown Church of Christ Cemetery.
