Novada Reneé Blaker, age 47, of Brownstown, passed away at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Reneé was a member of Brownstown United Methodist Church. She was employed as office manager for the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office in Brownstown. Born Feb. 12, 1967, in Tacoma, Washington, she was the daughter of Lee McCory and Kay Miller McCory Pratt. On Oct. 22, 1988, in Jackson County, she married Richard Blaker Jr., who survives. Besides her husband and parents, survivors include three sons, Jesse Blaker, Brownstown, Jacob (Katherine) Blaker, Franklin, and Patrick Blaker and fiancee, Rosa New, Indianapolis; a daughter, April (Josh) Bowman, Brownstown; two sisters, Jamie (Jack) Knichel and Judy (James) Doyle, both of Brownstown; five grandchildren, Makiya Crews, Gavin Crews, Zach Bowman, Debin Bowman and Bryer Bowman; three nieces, Lakyn Knichel, Breanna Knichel and Megan Fleetwood; and three nephews, James Doyle, Jared Doyle and Zachary Thompson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Novada and Ed Miller and Cyrus Cresson McCory. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brownstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Smith and the Rev. Kevin Stiles officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to Papas Ministry for the family.
