Peter N. DiCenzo, age 89, formerly of Girard, passed away peacefully late Friday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2015, at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. Peter was born January 13, 1926, in Youngstown, a son of the late Cesare and Viola DeGennaro DiCenzo, and lived in Girard for most of his life. He was a 1944 graduate of Girard High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for 18 months just after the end of World War II. Mr. DiCenzo was a machinist for Commercial Intertech for 43 years, and belonged to the Tool & Die Makers Union. He was a member of the former Honterus Lutheran Church (now Bethel Lutheran Church) for many years. A sporting man, Pete was also a member of the National Trapshooters Association, the Ohio State Trappers Association, the Mahoning Valley Trap League, the Vienna Fish & Game Club, and of the National Rifle Association. Mr. DiCenzo is survived by his daughter, Charlene (Tom) Rupert of Fairview, Pa.; his son, Peter W. (Cindy) DiCenzo of Brownstown; five grandchildren, Erica Vargas, Andrea Long, Andrea Morgan, Peter J. DiCenzo, and Nick DiCenzo; six great-grandchildren, Alessandra, Jesse, Tyler, Ryan, Madeleine, and Brian; and a sister, Ramona D'Eramo of Austintown. A sister, Patricia Deitsch, preceded him in death. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 6, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown, and funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at the funeral home. Committal services with military honors followed at Green Haven Memorial Gardens. Local arrangements were handled by Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.
