Randall E. "Randy" Miser, age 75, Bloomington, formerly of Medora, passed away at noon Thursday, May 2, 2013, at IU Health, Bloomington. Randy was a retired bailiff with Jackson Circuit Court, past Jackson County commissioner, assessor and Jackson County chairman of the Democrat Party. He owned and operated Randy's Market for more than 20 years in Medora. He was a 50-year member of Medora Masonic Lodge 328, member of the Jackson County Fair Board and the Jackson County Detention Center Board. Born April 26, 1938, in Sneedsville, Tenn., he was the son of Ernest Randall and Pearl Trent Miser, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Jewel Brock Bannister on July 9, 2003, in Tennessee. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Melissa (Tim) Robinson, Vallonia; one stepson, James (Beth) Beavers, Seymour; one stepdaughter, Rita (Thomas) Roberts, Vallonia; two sisters, Barbara "Bobbie" Kunz, Florida, and Iris Kay (Bud) Thorpe, Hendersonville, Tenn.; one grandson, Logan Randall Miser, Vallonia; and one great-granddaughter, Kalen McCord, Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepdaughter, Tammy Kinney; and one stepson, Joseph Beavers. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jack Belk officiating. Burial will take place at Zollman Cemetery, Medora. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by Medora Lodge No. 328 at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to donor's choice.
