Ronald E. Robertson, age 75, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, going home on Father's Day to see The Heavenly Father. Ron was a member of the Brownstown First Baptist Church, serving in various positions through the years. His greatest love was farming and raising Angus cattle. He also had a love for John Deere tractors. He and his father, Heilin, successfully created Robertson's Angus Farms, garnering awards at various shows and sales throughout the years. His cattle business began when he was 10 and spanned throughout his life. He would often state he chased many a black cow on many black, stormy nights. He would never complain about the hard work on the farm, enjoying every minute he could be put on a John Deere tractor and baling hay, disking, or planting. As the years passed, the farm became known as Sand Lane Cattle Company, as he and his son, Ty, started raising and showing Angus/Simmental crossbred cattle. They also began a freezer beef operation, producing high quality beef for local residents. Ron was a lifetime member of the American Angus Association and a former member of the Southern Indiana Angus Association. He also worked for Select Sires with custom breeding for various beef breeders. He attended Brownstown Central High School, graduating in 1968. During his senior year, he won the State FFA Beef Production award. Ron's career in meat cutting and merchandising began in 1970 at Weinings Packing in Palmyra. From there, he went to work at Winn-Dixie in Seymour and was then recruited by JayC Foods for their new Seymour store in the Jackson Park Shopping Center. He was instrumental in setting up the Foods Plus meat department in Village Center, and he also set up the Foods Plus meat department in Bedford. His career with JayC Foods spanned 20 years. He continued his career at Wal-Mart for the next 20 years before retiring. Throughout his career, he touched the lives of so many people with his genuine smile and his willingness to always assist customers the best way he could. Ron's greatest joy was looking after his two grandsons, Wyatt and Jasper. They brought huge smiles to his face, as he would squire them around on the farm in his Rhino, along with his constant companion, Diesel Dawg. He enjoyed sharing his love of John Deere tractors with them and entertaining them in his John Deere room with toy John Deere tractors, equipment, and memorabilia. He was an avid NASCAR fan, not missing any of the races. He also loved the tractor pulls at the local county fairs, the Tampico Tractor and Truck Pull, and the tractor pulls at the National Farm Machinery show was always a stop for him in February. Born on January 27, 1949, in Seymour, Ron was the oldest son of Heilin and Bernice (Lawson) Robertson, both of whom preceded him in death. On September 8, 1973, he married Patricia "Pat" Wall of Salem, and she survives in Brownstown. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September of 2023. Survivors also include one son, Tyler (Amanda) Robertson of Brownstown; one brother, Dale (Danita) Robertson of Missouri; two grandsons: Wyatt and Jasper Robertson; several cousins; one niece; one great-nephew; and several great-nieces. Ron was also preceded in death by one nephew, Robbie Wall. Funeral services for Ronald E.
