Willard Wischmeier, age 81, Seymour, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at his residence. Willard was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. He formerly owned Wischmeier Grave Services and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Sauers Men's Club and Sauers C Dartball team and an active member of Indiana Farm Bureau since 1952. He loved being with his family, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, fishing, traveling and riding his golf cart. He took great pride in maintaining the cemeteries with which he was involved. Born February 22, 1932, in Seymour, he was the son of Martin and Lena Surenkamp Wischmeier, both of whom preceded him in death. On February 4, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wegan, he married Marcella Hackman, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Dwight (Robin) Wischmeier, Seymour; two daughters, DeAnn (Doug) Maxie, Seymour, and Danielle (Charlie) Murphy, Seymour; one daughter-in-law, Linda (David) Isom, Seymour; one brother, Melvin (Emy Lou) Wischmeier, Seymour; grandchildren, Shawn (Kelly) Wischmeier, Randi Wischmeier, Heather (Tony) Henson, Adam Wischmeier, Amber Wischmeier, Alex Wischmeier (Megan Hall), Jennifer Speck, Michael Maxie (Mahala Wheeler), Mitchell Maxie, Melissa Maxie, Mark Maxie (Alison Carpenter), Telissa Murphy, Erin Murphy and Andrew Murphy; and 13 great-grandchildren, Sydnee, Tristan, Whitley, Chaz, Nichole, David, Steven, Carter, Ethan, Austin, Jordyn, Carter and Dylan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Wischmeier; one grandson, Nicholas D. Wischmeier; one brother, Erwin Wischmeier; and two sisters, Wilma Stuckwisch and Ella Benter. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, or St. John's Lutheran School, Sauers.
