    Leroy Lambring

    November 5, 1930 - March 9, 2022

    Leroy Lambring, age 91, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour. Leroy was a life-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, where he held various church offices. Mr. Lambring was employed at Cordes Hardware for a short time. He was then called and inducted into the United States Army on October 1, 1951, in Indianapolis. He was sent to Indian Gap, Pennsylvania, for basic training. He arrived in Korea in March, 1952, and was assigned to Heavy Mortar Company, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. While in Korea, Leroy earned the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean service medal with two bronze stars, the U.N. service medal, and one Overseas Service Bar. He served 10 months and 26 days in foreign service with nine months in the battle area, and he was discharged as a sergeant. After his military service, Leroy began his employment at Lucas and Ackerman Supply Co. in Brownstown and worked there for more 60 years. He was also a construction worker, owner of Leroy Lambring Builders, and was a member of the VFW. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports. Born on November 5, 1930, in Brownstown, he was the son of Harry and Emma Eggersman Lambring, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 31, 1953, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, he married Ruth E. Schuerman and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2006. Survivors include two sons: James (Carol) Lambring of Brownstown, and Carey (Cindy) Lambring of Brownstown; one daughter, Kathy (John) Schafstall of Seymour; seven grandchildren: Jamey (John) Doriot, Christopher (Kasee) Lambring, Courtney (Andrew) Fust, Chandler (Jessica) Lambring, Cassidy (Kyle) Wurtzburger, Carson Lambring, and Jennifer (Ryan) Culver; two step-grandchildren: Tammie Ault and Joe (Kim) Schafstall; 15 great-grandchildren: Emma Doriot, Sophie Doriot, Jack Doriot, Noah Lambring, Elliot Lambring, Miles Lambring, Finley Fust, Arthur Fust, Hudson Lambring, Lane Lambring, Nolan Wurtzburger, Nash Wurtzburger, Navy Wurtzburger, Olivia Culver, and Brooklyn Culver; five step-great-grandchildren: Tevis Deaton, Briar Ault, Branson Ault, Sady Schafstall, and Jasper Schafstall; two nieces: Pam DiSarro, and Kris (Kevin) Arsenault; great-nieces and great-nephews: Matthew DiSarro, Taylor DiSarro, Ashley Arsenault, Ally Arsenault, and Garrett Arsenault; and brother-in-law, Leland Nierman of Brownstown. Leroy was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Jay Lambring; one brother, Lester Lambring; and two sisters-in-law: Ruth Lambring Stropparo, and Lois Nierman. Funeral services for Leroy Lambring will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, with Pastor Craig Muhlbach officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. Interment will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7. Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, or St. John’s Lutheran School, Sauers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
