Norman Eugene Stidam, age 69, Brownstown, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at his residence. Norman was a member of Mount Eden Christian Church, Scottsburg. He retired on July 1, 1996, from Cummins Inc. in Seymour after 34 years as an engine tester. He was also a farmer. He was a 1961 graduate of Tampico High School and was a member of Washington Lodge 13, Brownstown, and Rolling Hill Shriner's Club, Indianapolis, Columbus, North Vernon and Sarasota, Fla. He was a driver for the Shriner's Hospital making trips to Cincinnati, Chicago and Lexington. He was chief firefighter of Cummins in Seymour and was president of Cortez High Twelve in Bradenton, Fla. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Seymour Aerie 655, American Legion Post 89 of Seymour and Jewel Tea Dish Club, Indianapolis. Born Sept. 5, 1943, in Norman, he was the son of Worley and Margaret Pruitt Stidam, both of whom preceded him in death. On Sept. 3, 1971, in Taylorsville, he married Kathryn "Kathy" Fields, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Bryan E. Stidam, Brownstown, and Christopher (Melissa) Green, Seymour; one daughter, Teresa (Brian) Stark, Seymour; two brothers, Ules "Pete" Stidam, Valparaiso, and Robert (Debbie) Stidam, Seymour; one sister, Elizabeth Ozbun, Brownstown; and 10 grandchildren, Christoph Rieker, Dystiny Green Leonard, Chrissy Green and Tyler Horton, all of Columbus, Karissa Green, Seymour, Kalyn Horton, Columbus, Aaron Green, Keiadra Green, Brooklyn Green and Rachel Stark, all of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Ernie, Charles, Elmer, Oliver and Calvin; two sisters, Martha Moore and Katie Stidam; and an infant baby. Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with Bruce Stephenson officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted by Washington Lodge 13, Brownstown, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Shriner's Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
