    Raymond Earl Reynolds

    October 20, 1938 - January 10, 2016

    Raymond Earl Reynolds, age 77, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Reynolds was a member of Brownstown Christian Church and was employed at Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus and also Seymour Tubing. He served 20 years in the United States Army retiring as Master Sargent E-8. He survived two tours in Vietnam and was a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sky Soldiers) and an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Specialist. Mr. Reynolds enjoyed driving his Camaro while listening to classic country music, going to the Waffle House with his family, helping neighbors with repairs and playing the harmonica. Born on October 20, 1938, in Brownstown, Indiana, he was the son of Orville and Alga Goodpaster Reynolds, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 1, 1961 in Heilbronn, Germany, he married Marlise Schell and she survives. Survivors also include two sons, Marty Reynolds of Brownstown and Mark Reynolds of Tampico; two daughters, Patricia Sovern of Brownstown and Tina Reynolds of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Daymond (Maggie) Reynolds; four grandchildren, Christina Mathisen, Amanda Sovern, Randi Wechsler and Ciara Oakes; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Mathisen, Jackson Mathisen, Beckett Mathisen, Brooke Wechsler, Chloe Wechsler, Dana Oakes and Gabe Oakes. In addition to both parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers, Richard L. Reynolds, Glen Reynolds, James F. Reynolds and Ronald L. Reynolds; and two sisters, Lois Rochner and Doris Bowman. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Brian Richard officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society. Online memorials and condolences may be given at www.spurgeonfh.com
