Alfred W. Fenneberg, age 92, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.
Mr. Fenneberg was baptized in Christ on November 29, 1931, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. He later became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, being confirmed in faith on March 25, 1945. He also served as Elder of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Alfred was a lifetime farmer, and he loved farming. He started his farming career at a very young age, as he helped his father and grandfather on the farm with his "handyman" jobs. After his marriage, he continued his dedication to farming with the help of his wife, Mildred.
He served in the United States Army, and he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He also served on the Jackson County Indiana Farm Bureau Board and on the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Co-op Credit Union for several years.
Alfred loved his family, and he was loved and cherished by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to numerous different states with his wife.
Born on November 16, 1931, at his home, Alfred was the son of Edwin W. and Anna A. (Wischmeier) Fenneberg, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 15, 1958, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Borchers, he married Mildred A. Schnitker, and she survives in Seymour.
Survivors also include one son, Kurt (Jeannie) Fenneberg of Seymour; one daughter, Karen (Joe) VonDielingen of Brownstown; two grandchildren: Jeanna (Tony) Eppley of Seymour, and Grant (Heather) VonDielingen of Seymour; three great-grandchildren: Patsy Eppley, Marin VonDielingen, and Alfred Eppley; and sister-in-law, Gladys Fenneberg.
Alfred was also preceded in death by an infant brother; and brother, Wilbur "Wib" Fenneberg.
Funeral services for Alfred W. Fenneberg will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, with Pastor Ralph Blomenberg, Pastor Philip Bloch, Pastor Jimmy Rodriguez, and Pastor Will Fredstrom officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour.
Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Seymour.
Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Vets 7.
