Alvin M. Stahl, age 91, of Brownstown, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Stahl was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown. He was also a member of the United States Army, and a member of American Legion Post #112.
Alvin retired as a heavy machine operator and foreman from Rust Construction Co. and also retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Born on August 10, 1927, in Brownstown, he was the son of Nathan H. and Marie Patman Stahl, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 25, 1954, at Central Christian Church in Seymour, he married Doris Jean Darin and she survives in Brownstown.
Survivors also include two daughters: Patricia "Pat" E. Stahl of Brownstown, and Carolyn Jo (Frank) Ira of Brownstown; one sister, Glenda (Max) Tuttle; three grandchildren: Katherine Jo (Lance) Adams; Jacqueline S. (Ryan) Olson, and Sarah E. Burke; two step-grandchildren: Robin Lemieux, and David (Wendy) Ira; two great-grandchildren: Madelyn G. Adams, and Bryson R. Adams; and four step great-grandchildren: Jacob Ira, Lucas Ira, Max Lemieux, and Donovan Lemieux.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Louis N. Stahl; and two sisters: Analene Brandt, and Carolyn L. Stahl.
Funeral services for Alvin M. Stahl will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown, with Pastor Jeremy Yeadon officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown.
Interment will be at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Brownstown.
Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown, Building Fund, American Diabetes Association, or Donor's Choice.
