Arthur W. Pollert

Arthur W. Pollert, age 90, of Seymour, passed away at 12:58 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Stonebridge Health Campus, Bedford. Arthur was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. He was employed with Thompson Dairy for 21 years and for Associated Milk Producers Inc., retiring in 1988. He also helped on the family farm. He was a member of Dudleytown Conservation Club, Star Promenaders Square Dance Club and the Indiana Square Dance Clubs Callers Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and playing cards. Born June 4, 1923, in Jackson County, he was the son of Louis and Elizabeth Petering Pollert, both of whom preceded him in death. On May 12, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church, he married Mabel Benter, who survives in Seymour. Other survivors include one son, Stanley Pollert, Seymour; one sister, Mildred Hageman Otte, Seymour; two grandchildren, Craig (Jeanne Grider) Pollert and Kyle Pollert, both of Seymour; and one great-granddaughter, Lizzie Ann Pollert, Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Terkhorn Pollert; two sisters, Esther Wischmeier and Melba Wischmeier; and three brothers, Marvin, Wilbert and Clarence Pollert. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, and noon until time of service Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, or Sauers Lutheran School.
