Carl Marshall Whipker, age 89, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Silver Oaks Health Campus, Columbus. Mr. Whipker was baptized in Christ on October 27,1935, confirmed in his faith on April 10, 1949, and united in holy marriage at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus. Marshall was a tool and die worker at Cummins Engine Co. from 1953 until his retirement in 1988. Marshall found his greatest joy in taking afternoon drives in his truck, mowing the yard, gardening, and dining out with his beloved wife, Doris. A passionate gun collector, gunsmith, hunter, and fisherman, he held a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and he was a member of the Columbus Gun Club. Playing cards with friends and family was one of Marshall and Doris' greatest pleasures. Born on October 4, 1935, in Columbus, Marshall was the son of Carl August and Beatrice A. (Wagner) Whipker, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 17, 1960, in Somerset, Kentucky, he married Doris J. Baldwin, and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2016. Survivors include one niece, Staci (Travis) Goodwin; one nephew, Jarrod (Kelly) Whipker; one great-niece, Chezney Whipker; and many cousins, whom he loved dearly. Marshall was also preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Nancy Whipker. Funeral services for Carl Marshall Whipker will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus, with Pastor Adam Rodriguiz officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus. Interment will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Columbus.
