D. Mark Sterling, age 58, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015. He was a member of the Brownstown Christian Church. Mark graduated from Brownstown Central High School in 1974 and from Vincennes University in 1976. He loved all music, including bluegrass, and enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing and volunteering at Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. Born on April 30, 1956, in Seymour, Indiana, he was the son of William and Thelma Jo Hotchkiss Sterling. His father preceded him in death in 2008 and his mother survives in Brownstown. Survivors also include two sisters, Linda D. Anglin of North Vernon and Barbara A. (Tim) Conner of Peru, Indiana; two nieces, Stephanie (Andrew) Ebbing of North Vernon and Lauren Conner of Bloomington; one nephew, Clark Conner of Indianapolis; two great nieces, Emily Ebbing and Allison Ebbing; and one great nephew, Nicholas Ebbing. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Doug Pogue officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Memorials may be given to the Brownstown Christian Church.
