Dale Wesley Bowman, age 91, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Bowman was a life-time member of Central Christian Church, Seymour.
Dale was a graduate of Clearspring High School, where he played basketball. He was proud to tell family and friends that he graduated third in his class……out of 4.
Dale served in the United States Air Force as a parachute packer. He was a life-time member of the Elks, American Legion, and Seymour Country Club. He was an avid golfer, as golfing was his passion, and he made life-long friendships with many golfers. Dale was also an avid I.U. and Cincinnati Reds fan.
Born on January 11, 1932, at his home in Norman, he was the son of Claude and Dorothy Knapp Bowman, both of whom preceded him in death. On January 9, 1953, he married Marilyn Lockman in Clearspring, and she preceded him in death on October 21, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Bryan Bowman (Melissa Krawchison) of Seymour; three daughters: Becky (Andy) Gordon of Pinellas Park, Florida, Beth Tulledge of Indianapolis, and Betsy Bryant of Seymour; one brother, Doug Bowman of Brownstown; one sister, Mary Jane Fleetwood of Brownstown; eight grandchildren: Lauren (Casey) Kirts, Caroline Bowman, Adam (Logan) Bowman, Natalie (Donnie) Scroggin, Aaron (Reese) Tulledge, Joshua Tulledge, Jerrad Bryant, and Jackson Bryant; ten great-grandchildren: Finn Kirts, Liv Kirts, Brooks Bowman, Zoe Kinser, Brianna Scroggin, Nicholas Scroggin, Easton Tulledge, Bo Tulledge, Leighton Tulledge, and Jathan Silvers; two great-grandchildren; and long-time companion, Nella Coe. He had a special bond with Nella's grandchildren: Sasha Connell, Caleb Connell, and Harper Connell.
Dale was also preceded in death by brother, Dan Bowman, and sister-in-law, Doris Bowman; brother, Donald Mac Bowman; sister, Linda Hanner, and brother-in-law, Morris Hanner; sister, Sara Warren, and brother-in-law, Leroy Warren; brother-in-law, Lee Fleetwood; and grandson, Nathan Chambers.
Funeral services for Dale Wesley Bowman will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Robin Everhart officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Military honors will be presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Vets 7.
Memorials may be given to Central Christian Church, Seymour, Boys & Girls Club, or Girls, Inc.
