Obituary

David Lee Waskom, Sr., age 77, of Crothersville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, on his family farm.

Mr. Waskom was baptized in Christ and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. Following his marriage, he and his wife became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers.

Dave was employed as a skilled tool and die maker, who worked at Seymour Housewares for 37 years before retiring in 2008. In 1976, he purchased the family farm, where he loved farming alongside his wife, and his brother and sister-in-law. Together, they raised crops, livestock, and horses.

Family was very important to Dave. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Dave also had a passion for horseback riding and coon hunting.

Born on February 12, 1949, in Seymour, David was the son of Charles and Thelma (VonDielingen) Waskom, both of whom preceded him in death. On November 1, 1969, at Brownstown Christian Church, he married Sharon Elaine Miller, and she survives in Crothersville.

Survivors include three sons: David, Jr. (Stacey) Waskom of Seymour, Andy Waskom of Crothersville, and Clint (Ashley) Waskom of Brownstown; six grandchildren: Laken Waskom, Brady Waskom, Kaylee Waskom, Caden Waskom, Ella Waskom, and Bennet Waskom; one great-granddaughter, Colie Waskom; two brothers: Charles Waskom and Fred (Marsha) Waskom; one sister, Gaynell Durham; and sister-in-law, Marsha Waskom.

Mr. Waskom was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Adria Ann Waskom; one brother, Mark Waskom; brother-in-law, Marlin Durham; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Waskom.

Private funeral services for David Lee Waskom, Sr. will be held at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.

Memorials may be given to Schneck Medical Center Hospice or Donor’s Choice through Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
