Debra Flynn, age 68, of Freetown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026, at her home.

Mrs. Flynn was a member of Freetown United Methodist Church from the time of her baptism until after her marriage to her husband, Edward. She often shared that she had been baptized in the creek beside the church, joking that it was the same creek with the "cow pies." Following their marriage, Debra and Edward became members of Honeytown Christian Church before later becoming devoted members of Surprise Christian Church.

Debra attended Freetown Elementary School before continuing her education in the Brownstown Central School system, where she graduated in 1976. After graduating, Debra earned her cosmetology degree from House of James Beauty School. She worked in beauty salons for a few years before joining Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown. She began her career there as a nursing aide and later trained as a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), serving in that role until her retirement in 2006.

Born on October 9, 1958, in Seymour, Debra was the daughter of Morris and Bettie (Stout) Bevers, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 26, 1982, at Freetown United Methodist Church, she married Edward “Ed” Flynn, and he survives in Freetown.

Survivors also include two brothers: Steven (Cher) Bevers and Charles “Chuck” Bevers; 42 Stout first cousins; several Bevers cousins; sisters-in-law: Mary, Nancy, Barbie, and Carol; several Flynn nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; one great-great niece; her best friend, Roberta Bane; and her fur baby, Daisy Mae.

Funeral services for Debra Flynn will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor T.J. Kummerfeldt officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at Robertson Cemetery, Honeytown.
