Deloris J. Hawkins, age 93, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at I.U. Health Bedford.
Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise and was a homemaker. She loved learning about family history and crocheting.
Born on September 7, 1925, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Stanley Robert and Isis Murphy Prewitt, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 6, 1945, in Indianapolis, she married Grover Lee Hawkins and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1996.
Survivors include one son, Rickey Lee (Sandra K.) Hawkins of Norman; daughter-in-law, Nancy A. Hawkins of Bedford; and grandchildren: Aaron Lee Hawkins, Koty Allen Hawkins, Brandi Lutes Brelage, Kyle Lutes, and Scott Lutes.
Deloris was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Jean Hawkins Zaring; one son, Donald Earl Hawkins; a grandson, Blake Matthew Zaring; and two brothers: George Sheldon Prewitt and Kenneth Earl Prewitt.
Funeral services for Deloris J. Hawkins will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., and from noon until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Liberty Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Tabernacle of Praise or Liberty Cemetery.
