Dickie Joe Robison, age 72, Brownstown, passed away at 4:20 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Norton Hospital, Louisville, Ky. Dickie attended Brownstown Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division. He retired from Duke Energy after 32 years and also worked at Swifty Farms for 14 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 89 of Seymour and the American Quarter Horse Association of Indiana. He was an avid sports fan and played basketball for the Brownstown High School Bears. He was a member of the U.S. Army Division Basketball team stationed in Hawaii. Born April 26, 1940, in Ewing, he was the son of George W. and Myrtle McKinney Robison, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 19, 1966, in Rising Fawn, Ga., he married Carolyn Brooks, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Lora Robison, Brownstown; two sisters, Marcella Bannister, Seymour, and Mary Virginia Lubker, Brownstown; two nieces, Nancy (Dennis) Sterling, Brownstown, and Gerda (Joey) Shebester, Florida; eight nephews, Jeff Robison and Kathy, Brownstown, Mark (Deneen) Lubker, Seymour, Marty (Lori) Lubker, LaGrange, Ky., Brian Lubker, Seymour, Jon (Peggy) Robison, Brownstown, Steve Robison, Seymour, Kevin Robison, Brownstown, and Brad (Sharon) Robison, Lake City, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Raymond "Friday" Robison, Clair "Pokey" Robison and Robert Robison. He is also survived by his greater Swiss mountain dog "Bo," who was his constant companion. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown, with Scott Irwin officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown, with military honors presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Vets 7. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Brownstown Baptist Church or Jackson County History Center.
