Obituary

Dolores Bertha Martha (Rieckers) Eggersman, age 96, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 16, 2026, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family.

Dolores was baptized in Christ on September 29, 1929, and confirmed in her faith on April 18, 1943, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. She remained a devoted and active member of the church throughout her life, including her involvement in the church’s Ladies Aid and Golden Age Club.

Dolores was a devoted homemaker, farm wife, and co-owner of Hy-Grade, Inc., a business she and her husband, Norman, established in 1970, where she worked alongside him until 2001. She was also an active member of the Sauers Extension Homemakers Club and the Jackson County Co-op, served as a 4-H leader for the Sauers Happy Boys and Girls Club for many years, and held the position of treasurer for AAL. Dolores found joy in caring for her flowers and her garden, raising blackberries, reading, playing cards with her friends, and sharing her love of cooking and canning with loved ones.

Family was very important to Dolores, especially her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Norman were dedicated to raising their children in the church, instilling in them the values of faith and hard work. Dolores involved her children in both the family business and the farm, teaching them by example the importance of responsibility and teamwork.

Born on September 18, 1929, in Seymour, Dolores was the daughter of Clarence and Rose (Krumme) Rieckers, both of whom preceded her in death. On November 15, 1958, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, she married Norman Eggersman, and he survives in Seymour.

Survivors also include three sons: Charles (Linda) Eggersman of Brownstown, Russell Eggersman of Seymour, and David (Rhonda) Eggersman of Seymour; three grandchildren: Jordan (Mariah) Eggersman of Brownstown, Evan (Holly) Eggersman of Seymour, and Cameron Eggersman of Brownstown; three great-grandchildren: Cale Eggersman, Gentry Eggersman, and Julia Eggersman; one sister, Dorothy Hischke of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Dolores was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Omer and (Wilma) (Mary) Rieckers, and Earl and Beulah Rieckers; and brother-in-law, John Hischke.
