Dorothy I. Stilwell, age 99, of Freetown, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Stilwell was a life-time member of Freetown Church of Christ.
Dorothy was a homemaker and seamstress. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved crocheting and sewing for all and taking care of her indoor plants, especially her Christmas cactus.
Born on June 2, 1921, in Freetown, she was the daughter of Sherman and Hazel Brock Carmichael, both of whom preceded her in death. On February 1, 1941, in Clark County, she married Earl Stilwell and he preceded her in death on September 1, 2013.
Survivors include one son, Richard (Peggy) Stilwell of Freetown; one daughter, Pamela Rider of Seymour; one sister, Doris Barnes of Columbus; four grandchildren: Angel Franks, Joseph (Tammy) Stilwell, Stephanie Krieger and Matthew (Cassie) Stilwell; and nine great-grandchildren: Sydney Franks, Tristan Franks, Trace Franks, Raven (Franklin) Terry, Cade Krieger, Seth Krieger, Addyson Krieger, Wyatt Stilwell and Sawyer Stilwell.
She was also preceded in death by two sons: Larry Stilwell and Jerry Stilwell; three brothers: Carl Carmichael, Ralph Carmichael and Ray Carmichael; one brother-in-law, George Barnes; and two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Carmichael and Nellie Carmichael.
Graveside services for Dorothy I. Stilwell will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Freetown Cemetery with Barry DeWitt officiating. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. will be practicing social distancing according to CDC guidelines.
