Erma Wischmeier, age 92, of Brownstown, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, where she taught Sunday School for numerous years, and was also a member of St. Paul Ladies Aid. She was a homemaker and worked along side her late husband on their grain and dairy farm. She was also a former member of the Wegan Wide Awake Homemakers Club. Born on July 4, 1922, in Seymour, Indiana, she was the daughter of John and Anna Petering Eggeman, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Leroy Wischmeier on December 21, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers, and he preceded her in death on June 18, 2002. Survivors include one son, Ronald (Melody) Wischmeier of Vallonia, Indiana; two daughters, Vivian (Charlie) Stahl of Brownstown, Indiana, and Janice (Phil) Teipen of Seymour, Indiana. Also surviving include eight grandchildren, Denise Shoemaker, Bruce Stahl, Jeffrey Stahl, Roni Jo Scarlett, Tyler Wischmeier, Leah Strange, Scott Teipen and Sharon Markel; 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Jeanette Wischmeier; great granddaughter, Grace Ann Scarlett; three brothers, Ervin Eggeman, Omer Eggeman and Lawrence Eggeman; and one sister, Verna Hackman. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, with Pastor Martin Keller officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Lutheran Central Endowment Fund or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan Building Fund.
