Gregory Leon Hoevener

Gregory Leon Hoevener, age 63, of Norman, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. Hoevener attended Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, with his mother, Loretta Hoevener. Greg was a lifetime auto body mechanic. He was full of life and loved his family, especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a chevy man and was extremely knowledgeable on any old vehicle style and type. Gregory enjoyed watching old western movies and always enjoyed working outside on any project. Born on October 4, 1959, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Leon and Loretta Beldon Hoevener. Leon preceded him in death on July 20, 2018, and his mother survives in Brownstown. He is also survived by one brother, Craig (Teresa) Hoevener of Florida; and one sister, Debra (Gary) Ward of Kokomo. On December 29, 2010, he married Susan Jane (Chatham) Shepherd, and she survives in Norman. Survivors also include two sons: Sean G. (Taylor) Hoevener of Vevay, and Seth J. Hoevener of Hanover; three daughters: Sophia Silvers (Shawn Deckard) of Bloomington, Rachel N. Hoevener of Indianapolis, and Emily J. (Fiance Jerry Eversole) Hoevener of Hanover; one stepson, Jeremy Shepherd of Scottsburg; two stepdaughters: Sandra Shepherd of Henryville, and Jeannie Stingley of Scottsburg; 16 grandchildren; three great–grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Greg was also preceded in death by two sons: Shane A. Hoevener, and Gregory Andrew "Andy" Hoevener. Funeral services for Gregory Leon Hoevener will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jimmy Rodriguez officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the funeral home.
