Harrison Hayes, age 90, of Norman, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his residence. He was a former school bus driver for Brownstown Central School Corporation, retired from Arvins and was also a farmer. He loved spending time with his family and friends and listening to Bluegrass music. In his younger days, he enjoyed making sorghum. Born on May 24, 1924, he was the son of Soloman "Bud" and Nora Hillenburg Hayes, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Grace Crockett on April 22, 1944, and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2011. Survivors include three daughters, Judy (Larry) Goforth, Sharon (Jack) Griffin and Karen (Lee) Isaacs; one son, Leroy (Joan) Hayes; grandchildren, Kim (Brad) Lockman, Brad (Sheila) Goforth, Tracey (Jon) Davidson, Dulsie (Marc) Allen, Matthew Hayes, Cliff (Shery) Cockerham and Ezra Jack "EJ" (Alisha) Griffin; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Wilbur and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife of 67 years, he was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Hayes; one great granddaughter, Chloe Davidson; three sisters, Gertie, Myrtle and Alphie and one brother, John. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Kenny Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
