Henry Kasper Terkhorn Jr., 83, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at his residence in Seymour. Born on July 10, 1930, in Brownstown, he was son of the late Henry Kasper Sr. and Louise (Wolka) Terkhorn. On May 23, 1952, Henry was united in marriage to Imogene Grant. Henry served his country from 1950-54 in the United States Navy. In 1957, he graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He was retired from The Oscar Mayer Company, where he had served as both vice president of finance and vice president of Oscar Mayer Venezuela. He also worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Columbus and was a certified public accountant. Henry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Seymour, where he held various church offices. He was a member of Elks Lodge 462, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1952, both of Seymour. He traveled the world, with stops that included Germany, Brazil, the United Kingdom, India and Venezuela, to name just a few. He was an avid fan of the Reds and his beloved Hoosier basketball team. His contributions to both his family and church were many, and he will be deeply missed. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Imogene; his daughter, Pamela (Jeff) Schelling of Racine, Wisconsin; sister, Mary Ann Grelle of Seymour; five grandchildren, Todd (Cher) Sorenson, Jenina Sorenson, Lindsey Sorenson, Jessica (Tim) Dingee and Jordan Schelling; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Sorenson; five brothers, Robert, Paul, Fred, Rolland and Omer; and four sisters, Margaret Spurgeon, Leona Stahl, Helen Smith and Dorothy Mae Terkhorn. A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour, with Pastor Jeff Stuckwisch officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will be held at Lutheran Cemetery, Brownstown. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
