Iva Alice Hamilton

Iva Alice Hamilton, age 76, of Seymour, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, surrounded by her loving family.
Iva was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Seymour. She loved her church family dearly, and she was active in the Women's Bible School, children and adult Sunday School, and the Awanas Youth Program. She also was dedicated to helping in the nursery at the church and helping serve funeral meals.
Mrs. Hamilton worked at the Shirt Factory in Seymour for several years, and then became employed at Home Products in Seymour, before retiring.
Iva cherished her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, working in her flower beds, and doing crossword puzzles. She greatly loved knitting, and she proudly donated her knitted items to others. Iva was also a great listener, as she was always ready to listen to anyone who needed to talk.
Born on February 8, 1947, in Seymour, Iva was the daughter of William and Agnes (Hubbard) Lucas, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 18, 1962, at her parents' home in Seymour, she married Billy Joe Hamilton, and he survives in Seymour.
Survivors also include two sons: Terry (Sandy) Hamilton of Seymour, and Gary Hamilton of Florida; one daughter, Tammy (Jerry) Hendershot of Missouri; one brother, Phil (Fran) Lucas of Florida; six grandchildren: Stephannie (Paul) Field, Sommer (Kraig) Klosterman, Dallas (Paige) Foster, Savannah (John) Carr, Kate (Kyle) Ream, and Joe (Jamie) Hendershot; 21 great-grandchildren: Caleb Foster, Kelsa Sawyer, Corey Foster, Hazelmay Field, Eugene Field, Blaine Wehmiller, Tatum Wehmiller, Baylee Foster, Marshal Foster, Killian Foster, DeClan Foster, Chesney Carr, Branson Carr, Canon Carr, Cain Ream, Gabriel Ream, Enoch Ream, Isaiah Ream, Preston Hendershot, Kaylee Hendershot, and Kiley Hendershot.
Iva was also preceded in death by one son, Brian Hamilton; and one granddaughter, Leah Hamilton.
Funeral services for Iva Alice Hamilton will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church, Seymour. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Baptist Church Awanas Youth Program.
