Obituary

Jane Vaniman, age 91, of Columbus and Wichita, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Four Seasons Retirement Center, Columbus.

Jane attended Fairmont United Church of Christ.

Jane graduated from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing. She then worked as a registered nurse at Lakeland General Hospital in Lakeland, Florida, for ten years, and then worked as a registered nurse at Bloomington Hospital for 27 years before retiring in 1994. She also volunteered at the American Red Cross and the Old Cowtown Museum.

Born on October 20, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, Jane was the daughter of Kenneth G. and Ona (Butler) Vaniman, both of whom preceded her in death. On January 3, 1995, in Wichita, Kansas, she married Kenneth Thompson, and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2004.

Survivors include several cousins.

A private graveside service will be held at Smallwood Cemetery, with Karen Hargett, hospice chaplain at Four Seasons Retirement Center, officiating.

Memorials may be given to Donor’s Choice.
