Jeannie Ellen Salyer, age 76, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Mrs. Salyer was a devoted member of Brownstown First Baptist Church, and she was deeply committed to supporting mission work at the church.
Jeannie worked as an over-the-road truck driver for J & M Trucking for numerous years. After her husband, Mike, passed away, she became a loving and compassionate caregiver for local families, forming many meaningful friendships along the way.
Jeannie dearly loved her family and her church family. She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends from church, and she had a true passion for reading and watching NASCAR races.
Born on September 11, 1949, in Ward, West Virginia, Jeannie was the daughter of Charles and Cora (Bowden) Beard, both of whom preceded her in death. On September 20, 1983, in Pembroke, Virginia, she married Phillip "Mike" Salyer, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2009.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelley (Danny) Patterson of North Carolina; two grandchildren: Brandon (Kristen) Atkinson and Brittany (Joe) Atkinson; two great-grandchildren: Laci Black and Makenzie Houghteling; three brothers: Charles (Rita) Beard, Jr., David (Debbie) Beard, and Jack (Brenda) Beard; sister-in-law, Cindy Beard; and special friends, Tim Warren, Doreen Bentz, and Mary Ann Spray.
Jeannie was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas Spalding, III; one daughter, Kimberly Spalding; one brother, Terry Beard; and one sister, Jerry Beard.
Funeral services for Jeannie Ellen Salyer will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Brownstown First Baptist Church with Pastor Darrin Wan officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Brownstown First Baptist Church.
A private graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, Kentucky.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown First Baptist Church Missions.
