Jerry Chadwell, age 69, of Berea, Kentucky, formerly of Freetown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Chadwell was a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Berea, and he held a deep affection for his family and his church community.
Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Brownstown Central High School. After high school, his eagerness to learn took him to Eastern Kentucky University, where he not only expanded his educational horizons, but also deepened his love for basketball.
Professionally, Jerry dedicated his life to a fulfilling career as a supervisor in the shipping department at Ki USA Corporation. While his professional life was filled with meaningful work, Jerry's heart truly belonged to the hardwood and spending time outdoors. His love for basketball was more than just a pastime; it was a way of life. As an avid Duke basketball fan, he would cheer for his team with enthusiasm that was infectious. His passion for the sport of basketball naturally translated into his role as a basketball coach at Berea High School. Jerry's influence extended beyond the basketball court, as he also took on the role of a cross-country coach at Berea High School. His guidance helped shape the lives of countless young individuals, both on and off the basketball court and the field. Beyond his professional and coaching endeavors, Jerry also had a deep appreciation for garage sales and antiques.
Born on April 11, 1955, in Seymour, Jerry was the son of Isaac "I.J." and Marilyn (Ault) Chadwell. His father preceded him in death in 2017, and his mother survives in Freetown.
Survivors also include two sisters: Alice Chadwell of Freetown, and Nancy (Randy) Borden of Sun City Center, Florida.
