Jerry Taylor, age 78, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at his home.

Jerry dedicated 31 years of service to Cummins before retiring. In addition to his professional career, he was a lifelong farmer, who developed a love for farming at a young age. He enjoyed camping trips to Brown County with his late wife and traveling to festivals and farm shows together. Jerry also had a passion for collecting antique cars and tractors and enjoyed participating in tractor drives.

Born on October 26, 1947, at his home in Jackson County, Jerry was the son of Charlie and Virginia (Roush) Taylor, both of whom preceded him in death. On August 28, 1982, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Seymour, he married Clara Lou Guinn, and she preceded him in death on August 6, 2020.

Survivors include three sisters: Cathy (Richard) Oswald, Judith Lewis, and Joan (Leroy) Hayes; nieces: Twyla, Angie, Michelle, Melissa, Kim, and Dulsie; and nephews: Chris, Monty, Scott, Chad, and Matthew.

Mr. Taylor was also preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Charles “Sonny” and Anna Taylor; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and John Good; one nephew, Gary; and one niece, Jenny.

Funeral services for Jerry Taylor will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Steven Barrett officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at Acme Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Robertson Cemetery or Houston school restoration committee.
