Joan Marie Bragg, age 80, of Brownstown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Joan dedicated many years to working as a bartender at The Eagles. She was a sweet and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who cherished her family above all else. She loved spending time with those she loved, creating countless memories that will be treasured forever.

Joan enjoyed gambling, especially betting on horse races. She was carefree and lived life to the fullest, embracing each day with joy and enthusiasm. Joan had a kind and generous heart, always ready to help anyone in need without hesitation. Her selflessness and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Born on August 21, 1945, in Columbus, Joan was the daughter of Ronald Earl and Mabel Lorene (Sneed) Spencer, both of whom preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters: Rhea Sweeney (Bobby East) of Seymour, and Sonya Gray (Russel Turnbow) of Seymour; five grandchildren: Joby Bragg, Brittany (David) Guthrie, Heidi Miley, Phoebe (Hunter) Gray Wildey, and Bailey Miley; and nine great-grandchildren: Harlan Guthrie, Zoey Jackson, Mila Jackson, Hudson Miley, Birdie Bragg, Paisley Wildey, Kayla Guthrie, Dravin Guthrie, and Brantley Wildey.

Joan was also preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Dallas and Joyce Spencer.

Funeral services for Joan Marie Bragg will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.

Memorials may be given to The Eagles – Women’s Auxiliary.
