John M. Jennings, age 64, of Medora, passed away at 3:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Our Hospice, Columbus. John served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Army with the rank of sergeant after 11 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 112, Brownstown, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Seymour. Born Sept. 28, 1948, in Glasgow, Ky., he was the son of Rondall and Gertrude Rigsby Jennings, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 1, 2004, in Indianapolis, he married Cindy Bauer, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Scott Jennings, Johnny Hughey, Matthew Hughey and Joey Silva; one daughter, Krystal Silva; one stepson, Justin Hovey; two stepdaughters, Erika Bauer and Kimberly Bauer; one brother, Dennis Jennings; one sister, Melody Henson; 14 grandchildren, Alanna Llamas, Alexi Llamas, Andrew Llamas, Aubry Llamas, Jordan Jennings, Karen Murphy, Rylan Bauer, Scott Jennings Jr., Matthew Hughey Jr., Shelby Hughey, Candice Hughey, Corey Hughey, Christian Silva and Emma Silva; and one great-grandchild, Madison Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents, The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, with military honors. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc. in Brownstown; from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette; and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Our Hospice, Columbus.
