Joseph Glenn Gallion, age 86, of Brownstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Gallion had a strong faith and was a devoted lifelong member of Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, where he served as a church board member and taught Sunday School for numerous years.
Joe worked at Cummins Engine Co. for 31 years before retiring in 1987. He was also a dedicated member of Gideons International.
Family was of utmost importance to Joe. He cherished spending time with them, particularly enjoying trips to Florida with his wife, Joella. Joe had a deep love for the outdoors, making it his favorite pastime, with a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping. Additionally, he enjoyed woodworking, coaching his sons' sports, and traveling with his wife and their friends.
Born on November 14, 1938, in Jackson County, Joe was the son of Earl and Jessie Faye (Cockerham) Gallion, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 26, 1960, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, he married Emily Joella Black, and she survives in Brownstown.
Survivors also include one daughter, Shauni (Curt) Brown of Brownstown; three sons: Shane (Renee) Gallion of Medora, Joey (Beth) Gallion of Brownstown, and Sam Gallion of Brownstown; eight grandchildren: Jared Pasko, Kati (Colton) Patriquin, Kari Brown, Lance (Becca) Gallion, Ellis Gallion, Elisa (Shane) Hickman, Luke Gallion, and Hannah (Alex) Kraft; great-grandchildren: Zoey Pasko, Henry and Walker Patriquin, Kenzie and Lincoln Gallion, and Danny Hickman; one brother-in-law, Roger (Madeline) Black; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was also preceded in death by one grandson, Eli Gallion; one sister, Betty (Perk) Sons; three sisters-in-law: Norma (Earl) Nichols, Bonnie (Bill) Combs, and Ruth (Peter) Fritzsche; one niece; and one nephew.
Funeral services for Joseph Glenn Gallion will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Tim Lichtley officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Brownstown Church of the Nazarene or Gideons International.
