Joseph L. Richart II, age 91, of Brownstown, passed away at 12:50 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013, at his residence to be with the Lord. Joseph was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour. He loved attending church and talking with the Lord and was a head sales person in the region for farm equipment. He was a 1939 graduate of Seymour High School and was a member of the Elks Club and was a loving family man and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed hog and deer hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing and loved telling stories, as he did not know a stranger. Born May 4, 1922, in Seymour, he was the son of Joseph L. and Josephine Thyme Richart, both of whom preceded him in death. On October 18, 1941, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, he married Lula Davidson, who survives. He was a devoted husband for 71 years. Survivors includes three sons, Patrick Richart of Lake Mary, Fla., Steve Richart and Joseph L. Richart, both of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one brother, Jimmy (Jeanette) Richart of Martinsville; six grandchildren, Steven Richart, Patrick Richart Jr., Sean Richart, Stacey Ecelbarger, Heather Bishop, and Jami Richart; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jacob Richart, Cody Richart, Brandon Richart, James Michael Richart, Jordyn Ecelbarger, Lucy Ecelbarger, Taylor Henderson, Caydin Bishop, Quintyn Bishop, Avigale Tiemeier, Lilly Tiemeier, and KJ Elmore. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jean Weaver. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Dan Staublin and Scott Erwin officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
