Joseph William Warren, age 51, of Medora, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Columbus Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Warren was baptized at Mt. Zion Methodist Church, and he often attended church services with his wife, Billie.
Joe graduated from Brownstown Central School in 1993. During his high school years, he was a member of the track team, where he set a school record in the 100-meter dash that he still holds today. Joe worked for several years as a foreman with S & J Construction.
Joe loved his family dearly and cherished the time he spent with them. He also had a deep love for his dogs. Known for his “heart of gold,” Joe was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a quick wit and a unique sense of humor, earning him a reputation as a prankster. He had a love for fireworks and took great joy in putting on a show for his family and friends. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, as he enjoyed working on his mini farm and had a passion for hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, and grilling.
Born on October 4, 1974, in Seymour, Joe was the son of Ervin, Sr. and JoAnn (Stilwell) Hughes. His father preceded him in death, and his mother survives in Medora. On May 18, 2024, on the Hansome homestead, he married Bille Jean Turner, and she survives in Medora. He and his wife were truly inseparable, and you rarely saw one without the other.
Survivors also include one daughter, Angeleea Warren of New Albany; one son, Jaylon Warren of Brownstown; one brother, Ervin, Jr. (Julie) Warren; three sisters: Elizabeth (Scott) Hughes, Susanna (Craig) Cooper, and Holly (Mickey) Wagers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church.
