Joyce G. Spencer

Joyce G. Spencer, age 68, of Freetown, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, Indiana. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Brownstown, and also a member of the Spurs and Wheels Saddle Club and Hoosier Back Country Horseman. She was employed as a supervisor at Dura Automotive in Brownstown for 32 years. Born on April 27, 1946, in Junction City, Kansas, she was the daughter of Bernard and Erma Roath Lucas. Her mother survives in Brownstown and her father preceded her in death on August 9, 2005. On July 5, 1974, she married Max D. Spencer at the Tampico Christian Church. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2014. Survivors include one son, Roger D. (Tonya Lewis) Spencer of Brownstown, twin sister, Janice G. (Larry) Goss of Freetown; one grandson, Lucas A. (Anna) Spencer of Freetown; and one great grandson, Rhett Meier Spencer of Freetown. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jeff Patterson officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Memorials may be given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
