Obituary

Juanita June VonDielingen, age 98, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.

Mrs. VonDielingen was an active member of the Surprise Christian Church.

Juanita retired from Swifty Oil Corporation, where she served as Secretary and Treasurer. She was a dedicated member of the Seymour #134 Eastern Star Lodge for over 70 years. In addition, she belonged to the Pythian Sisters #142 of Brownstown and was a charter member of the Muscatatuck Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, later transferring to the Fort Vallonia Chapter in 1977.

Throughout her time with DAR, she held numerous leadership roles, including Vice-Regent and Regent across three separate terms. At the state level, she served as State Chairman of Insignia and held several offices within the State Chairman Association, including Secretary and Treasurer, Vice-President, and President. She also chaired the 85th Conference Southern District Banquet and Reception, served as State Chairman of American History Month and Conservation, and held positions as Southern District Director and State Treasurer, each for three-year terms. Through her involvement, she formed many close and lasting friendships at both the state and national levels of the DAR.

Born on May 19, 1927, in Jackson County, Juanita was the daughter of Dallas C. and Zella M. Cross Spray, both of whom preceded her in death. On March 8, 1972, in Bartholomew County, she married Glen J. VonDielingen, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1998.

Survivors include her canine friend, Izzabella; three nieces; one nephew; and numerous friends and neighbors.

Juanita was also preceded in death by three brothers: Dallas Spray, Jr., Harry Spray, and Roscoe Spray; one sister, Reva Rumph; two nephews; and her canine friend, Tomara.

Funeral services for Juanita June VonDielingen will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor T.J. Kumberfeldt officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.

As Juanita was a true dog lover, memorials may be given to the Humane Society of Jackson County or to the Surprise Christian Church.
